Special Track
Software Development for Education (SDE)
Focus
The software development area allows us to easily be creative and innovative early on, which in turn contributes to the higher goal of helping the world to get to a better place (ref. to better living and working conditions by means of hardware and software tools).
The software developers who publish in this event adhere to these values in order to improve and bring innovation to the educational process. This track is dedicated to them.
Early adopters of technology, occasional developers and those who just want to know how it’s done are welcome in the public as well.
This track will contain:
- Regular papers/presentations. These are encouraged to focus also on the technical details, in order to have a technical debate with constructive results.
- A few longer presentations which will will help us learn about tools and technologies.
- Discussions for learning from each other and for networking.
All submitted papers must include technical details regarding the software development process (the environment, challenges met and how they were solved, architectures, reusable libraries etc.).
Topics of Interest
- Software applications developed for education.
- Using recent technologies for developing educational applications, with live examples (a “how to get started” chapter, with pointers to the official documentation and needed development tools for working with the recent technology, is desired).
- Summary of applications developed with a certain software development framework/tool (a “how to get started with this framework” chapter is appreciated here too).
- Self-made programming frameworks and snippets – presented in the context of a developed educational software application.
- Acting upon the real world – the software-hardware connection
- Solutions for challenges encountered while developing - presented in the context of a developed educational software application.
Additional Information Regarding the Event
We strongly recommend to include a couple of slides referring to your recent R&D activity, when making the on-site presentation.
The creation of the Association of Software Developers for Education will be officially proposed and discussed.
Slightly longer presentations are already planned on the following topics:
- “Using LabVIEW for building remote laboratory server: pros and cons, frameworks and design patterns, software architecting and common pitfalls" - Igor Titov
- “Tips for developing Android online laboratory clients” (includes a getting started with Android chapter) - Bogdan-Alexandru Deaky
- “Learning Analytics on federated remote laboratories: tips and techniques” - Pablo Orduña
