EDUCON2020 online on April 27-30, 2020

The current worldwide situation regarding COVID-19 is seriously affecting all travel plans to/from Europe, including Portugal. The conference organizers have been monitoring the situation over the past weeks, with full attention for the health and safety of all presenters, exhibitors and attendees, and have explored all options to maintain the event as planned, in close cooperation with IEEE. The current situation, with restrictions imposed by the European Commission, the Portuguese Government, Porto Municipality, and the Organizing Institutions, no longer allows the conference to proceed in the traditional face-to-face format in 2020.

Therefore, it has been decided to organize EDUCON2020 as an online event during the same period of the planned physical event scheduled to Porto, from April 27 to 30, 2020.

To implement this, the following actions will be taken:

1. An online conference environment will be set up to allow authors of accepted papers (main track & special sessions) and posters to present their works in a remote mode ^(*);
2. Authors will also have the opportunity to upload a presentation with recorded audio, in order to accommodate any restrictions imposed by the conference schedule (UTC+1h) and/or technical difficulties in connecting to the online environment ^(**);
3. All papers presented in the online conference will be submitted to IEEE for publishing in IEEE Xplore;
4. The online conference will also include the opening & closing sessions, keynote sessions, round tables, and best paper awards;
5. A proper online solution for acknowledging the sponsors will also be set up;
6. The workshops planned for the pre-conference day will be confirmed on a per-case basis following contacts with the proponents.
