Our world is continuously changing with Technological, economic and social challenges influencing companies and organizations to integrate technical and business skills in order to come up with solutions to these difficult problems.
For this complex, competitive, technology-driven industry, businesses continuously seek innovative engineers who understand the essential principles of business and law. Engineers need to have the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to: manage engineering teams; handle project design and development; create strategic plans; handle financing; interface with marketing; recognize and evaluate market opportunities; and deal with intellectual property issues.
Engineers are no longer employed just to undertake engineering tasks and simply work on projects - they also need to have a tremendous competitive advantage; i.e. Be Engineer Business Generalists.
Let us not forget that Leading Managers Worldwide are likely to have Engineering Background. Based on a Harvard Business Review report (2014), 24 out of the top 100 CEOs in the world are engineers. The 5 Best-Performing CEOs in the World are: Jeffrey Bezos - Amazon; John Martin - Gilead Sciences; John Chambers - Cisco Systems; David Pyott - Allergan; David Simon - Simon Property Group.
